Announcements
In our prayers: We give glory to God for the new life in Baptism of Oliver James Bonow, son of Jordan and Jennifer Bonow.
Flowers: Ed and Kathy Johnson thank our Lord for 63 wonderful years of love and marriage, and for their beautiful children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Today in Sunday School the lesson was about Jesus calling the first disciples as recorded in Matthew 4:12–25. Jesus preached, taught, and healed, and He called His first disciples to do the same. Today, Jesus continues His saving work through the Office of the Ministry, where His Word is preached and His Sacraments are administered. The children learned that Jesus chose ordinary, sinful men to follow Him and be His disciples. In Baptism, Jesus chooses us to be His children. Underscore that in Jesus’ forgiveness we find peace and favor with God, whose Word testifies repeatedly and consistently that Jesus is His Son and our Savior.
Prayer Suggestion For The Week Pray for, and seek blessings, for those who are in authority over your children, asking the Lord to give them wisdom and understanding as they instruct your children.

Would you be interested? Mary's Place is a non-profit day center shelter in Seattle empowering women and their children to reclaim their lives. Because it is a day center, in order to keep them from sleeping on the street or in cars, they are transported to volunteer faith communities who provide an evening meal and an indoor place to sleep. There is an urgent need for volunteers at the location they are at from now through Feb 4th. The opportunities are: provide the evening meal (presently for 4 moms and 5 kids), serve as the evening "host" (read, play games, color with kids and visit with moms 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm), or be the one who spends the night (you do not need to stay awake all night! Just be there if someone needs something) If you think you might be interested, or have additional questions, please contact Cheryl Kohring on her cell at 206.617.4720 or on her home phone at 206.364.5324. If you would like to learn more about Mary's Place before even considering this, go to www.marysplaceseattle.org.
